While we await The Conjuring 3, Annabelle 3 and The Nun 2 - all to be set in an ever-mutating cinematic universe of peekaboo hauntings - there's a new malevolent wraith in town. Or rather, an old one. The Curse of La Llorona takes its title from the "weeping woman" of Mexican folklore - a wrathful, Medea-like figure who drowned her own children to spite their faithless father, before committing suicide. She's condemned, as the legend goes, to wander the night in her bridal veil, coming after any children unfortunate enough to cross her path. [...]
