A Bank That Specializes in Payback (and Not the Kind With Interest)

A movie devoted to the villainy of banks should be an easy sell these days, and “The International,” a sleek travelogue thriller directed by Tom Tykwer, at least flirts with timeliness, winking at an angry and anxious public mood. That multinational weapons manufacturers can be portrayed as more decent, civic-minded and principled than global financiers surely says something about the state of the world.
