A Jewish boy is torn between playing resistance fighter and Peeping Tom in “The Little Traitor,” a muddled morality tale more interested in coming of age than getting of wisdom.
Set in Palestine in 1947, the film follows Proffy Liebowitz (Ido Port), a precocious 12-year-old forever sassing his parents and fulminating against the British occupiers. With a father (Rami Hoebreger) who does nothing but nag and a mother (Gilya Stern) whose sole purpose is to feed (“I’ve made you a nice breakfast”; “Have some pudding”), it’s small wonder that Proffy responds to the innocent overtures of a cuddly British sergeant (Alfred Molina).
